The origin of weaving in India dates back 5000 years. Our beautiful hand woven throws are created by weavers, dyers, yarn makers and people who stitch, to create a beautiful finished product. Each throw is exquisite and is a blend of traditional design and workmanship.
The artisans, located in Jharkhand, one of the most economically challenged states in India, have built a business based on a model that produces highly desirable and skillfully made products.
Sustainability is important to us. Our first choice, therefore, is to partner with suppliers that are socially relevant, have a sustainable model while simultaneously following the principles of “green” living and providing work and support for their workers.
The sale of these products provides livelihood for hundreds of workers and assists in raising people, particularly women, out of poverty by providing them a sustainable income in return for dedicated work. These products are made with dignity and care in a fair-trade environment. Whether the purchase is large or small, these are the things, based on social conscience, that make a difference to us and to the people who make the products.
We, at Jefferson Lane, are happy to be part of this supply chain of bringing quality hand-woven products to our customers who appreciate making a difference, a difference that can be felt around the world.
